IT IS TIME. (The revival of beast mastery)
Now that beast mastery is now useful, I was thinking we could make some builds for it.
Just now I was in RA with this build:
BM:11+1+3
EXP:12+1
WS:6+1
Predator's Strike
Disrupting Strike
Brtual Strike
Poison Arrow
Call of Haste
Troll Unguent
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal
It works pretty good, because no one thinks of pets are warriors. With brutal strike, you can pack on an extra 70 damage to your attacks when they are below 50% hp. Like warriors beloved final thrust, but recharges in 5 seconds and costs energy. I dont have any pet elites, but if I did I would use them. What do you guys think?
Also, I think this might make the casual use of pets more effective, to supliment normal builds. Before this build, I was using one that relied on marksmanship and BM, and I was suprised at the damage it could do. Suggestions?

The pet elite is Ferocious Strike which does extra damage and gives you a nice bundle of energy. If you were to equip this you could reduce expertise and possible contribute some to marksman to make the dmg a bit more balanced between you and your pet. If you had more than one ranger in TA you could organise to share pet buffing spirits which would make a real difference.

I used the build from the first post with yes, I chnaged posion arrow to Fercious Strike. I works very well in my view, I have been hunting time and time again for the new green weapon, it was very comfortable to use.
Although its not really a power, powerful build, but there were situation my pet tanked well againest a group of mod, and lives based on using the Pred strike and comfort animals, while I shoot from a far.
I because my style was quite boring: spam all attack skills as soon as they are ready, I would change disruping strike to throw dirty for my next test.

For a more balanced build I was thinking:
Beast Mastery: 9+1+3=13
Expertise: 7+1=8
Wilderness Survival: 9+1=10
Marksmanship:10+3=13
Pin Down
Savage Shot
Read The Wind
Ferocious Strike
Call of Haste
Troll Unguent
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal
I would really like to get some poison in there somwhere... Suggestions?

I'm actually gonna try using a pet with Melee. I kinda wish that BM had some melee type attacks (spear/whip/something) so I wouldn't have to drop points into sword, but my general I idea is this.
Apply Poison
Seeking Blade
Disrupting Lunge
Bestial Pounce
Comfort
Charm
Whirlng Defense
Rez
Only thing I don't like about this build is no Self heal.... Idea of going Melee instead of ranged is to stick close to your pet, attacking in tandum will help put pressure on the target. Seeking blade + apply poison will put a hefty degen on anyone trying to dodge/block. This is still a very weak build, but I'll work the bugs out later (at work now.)
<insert Tactics build here>
I'm gonna work up a tactics build later also, no/few points in sword, but you have utility/self heal spells you can spam. Bulk of your damage would come from pet skills....again, later.

As much as I would like to use a pet in melee, I find it very difficult to still get full effectiveness out of my sword with just a few skills.
Even though Ill offer a build for contrast :P
Seeking Blade
Hamstring / Apply Poison
Ferocious Strike
Call of Haste*
Tiger's Fury
Troll Unguent
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal
* According to the pet guide, this skill increases dps more than any other pet skill. I think the same applies for tiger's fury, as it is a 33% increase in dps, if maintained. Even with seeking blade being spammed constantly, no skills can match that.
Yes.

This build is amazing, and it works in both PvP and PvE. I think this type of build will be the next big thing.
Attributes:
Beastmastery: 16 (Helm + superior beastmastery rune)
Expertise: 13 (Minor Rune)
The leftovers in Wilderness Survival with a minor rune.
Equipment:
Druid's Armor from Drok's with a Beastmastery veil
Minor Expertise Rune, Superior Beastmastery Ruen, Minor Wilderness Survival Rune
Fires in the East Quest Reward Staff with a +5 energy staff head (Brings your total energy to 50!)
Skills:
Call Of Haste: Use it early and use it often, you have about 5 seconds between its recharge and length time.
Predator's Pounce: Only 5 energy, does max damage and steals life! This should be an elite! Use whenever charged.
Ferocious Strike [Elite]: Doesn't do max damage, but if it hits you gain 10 energy! Use whenever possible.
Brutal Strike: Does max damage, use when you can't use Pounce or Strike.
Comfort Animal: Use this when Pounce is recharging to heal or rez pet.
Charm Animal: Well, duh!
Troll Unguent: A little thing to keep you healed. Use whenever necessary.
Ressurection Signet: Self Explanatory
A little about the build:
This build has no energy troubles due to expertise and your high energy. With a level 14 pet, I'm doing 50 damage to Warriors with sup. absorption. Just cast attacks whenever possible and keep Call of Haste up. Try to heal your pet as best as you can with Pounce, but also use Comfort when needed.

Eh pets will never get their revenge unless their AI gets changed. They beat henchman with their stupidity.
I tried it in PvP. Axe/Beastmaster type of ranger. W/R with axe does way more damage.

Then, sir, I might venture to say that your build "sucked ass". Of the balanced pet/weapon builds I have used, they easily do atleast 3/2 times the damage of only one of those by themself. There is also some logic behind this. Theoretically, with one weapon, you are putting all 8 skills towards it, and you can only use those skills so often, but not enough to make up for the fact that with a pet you have twice the attack rate and even powerful skills to use with it. You could get 16 in any certain weapon trait, correct? While using both BM and some weapon, you could easily get both up to 12-13 with the use of runes and still have a decent amount in WS and exp. And, as a ranger you can use the more powerful energy based skills and not have to worry about energy consumption, especially through the use of ferocious strike. Warriors on the otherhand, without use of warriors endurence (which most warriors leave out in favor of cleave, pshh), energy skills cannot be used upon ones whim, but must be managed carefully. Thus they base their attacks on adrenaline skills which often take more time to be usable again then their 5 energy counterparts. In conclusion, try one of the builds posted here if you dont believe me.

Well I guess you never played a real warrior that is not a Mending Paladin.
How can a pet outdamage apply poison, eviscerate, executioners + penetrating blow? At 16 axe mastery that is +42 or +44 damage on exe and eviscerate. Adrenaline builds up fast with skills like TF, BS or if you really want it, Frenzy.
I tried 16 Beastmastery beastmaster and 16 Axe Mastery warrior and beastmaster never comes even close to damage I deal.
When I pvp I try to end it fast, not run around after monks with my bow cursing my pet why is it attacking nearest pet.
I also noticed that if you as example kill a ranger your pet will automaticaly turn to his pet if he has one, and start fighting with it and refusing to obey your real target. I never noticed my warrior did that to me
I tried beastmaster build long time ago, even posted beastmaster build here somewhere, I tried it now after the patch and I dare to say, it's same shit just different package
Beastmaster is fun to play, but dont expect to deal alot of damage. Pet skills are fast recharge but pets rarely attack target you want (unless it's the first person you attacked). Plus pet just gets in my way.
The only real reason players should invest into beastmastery is for TS or FS to gain adrenaline/energy. Then again Charm Animal/Revive Animal is waste of skill slot(s). And then ohhh goody if you dont have revive animal and your pet dies. Then it's a real waste of skill slots for pet skills not to mention 8 seconds of blackout if it dies or you try to revive it.

Anarki, You sir are a fool if you think Beastmastery is useless and from what I can see you don't understand simple logic so I won't even bother.
By the way Kurow on 60 Armour Final Thrust + Brutal Strike does 224 damage without critical hits.

here s a beastmastery build i ve posted a few weeks( or was it months...) ago
its a touch ranger/beastmaster mix
blood magic 11
beastmastery 14 (10+3+1)
expertise 13 (10+3)
vampiric touch ( heal+ damage)
disrupting lunge
ferocious strike[elite]
call of haste( for the runners I cant chase)
comfort animal
whirling defense
charm animal
res signet
I used this for random arenas, and It worked really great.
the only problem, as always, the pet AI problem, and heavy degen and hex.
Ishould try other pet attacks and see if they can work (and have a mighty 16
attribute beastmastery).I am asking myself what a full beastmaster team can do...
